Step 1: push the drawer fully into the pot, which is the position that stops drainage. Then, water normally! With drainage stopped, your soil can fully soak up what you’re giving it.

Step 2: once done watering, pull the drawer slightly forward so that it is in line with the rest of the pot. This position allows drainage again, and all excess water in your soil will fall into the removable drawer.

Step 3: Finally, after a couple minutes draining, take the drawer out and discard the excess water or use it on another plant!
